Daria Tennikova

S. Rachmaninoff Piano Sonata # 2 in Bb minor: op36 *New Version 1931 I. Allegro-Agitato

Daria Tennikova, composer, pianist and educator received a collaborative piano and pedagogy degree from Saint Petersburg, Russia, BM in Composition from UW-Madison with a minor in German Studies, MM in Composition from Rice University and is now back at Mead Witter School of Music in Madison, pursuing her DMA in composition under the mentorship of Laura Schwendinger, with minor in piano performance in the studio of Christopher Taylor. Daria
enjoys performing the music of Mozart, Chopin, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff. In her compositions Daria has taken much inspiration from Prokofiev, Scriabin and Shostakovich. In
addition to her full time studies Daria is an avid educator and has many young pupils and adult students in both piano and composition in the Madison area and online. With her recent TA appointment in music theory at UW-Madison, Daria teaches Aural Skills and Ear Training labs to sophomore students.

Drew Lazio

F. Chopin Waltz in Ab Major: op 69#1

15 year old Drew Lazio, a student of Carol Ricker, is a freshman at Madison West High School. Aside from piano study of 10 years, other interests include Scrabble, Skiing, and Dungeons and Dragons. Drew’s favorite composer is Shostakovich and Drew especially loves his use of humor and range of emotions in his Preludes and Fugues.
