About

Salon Piano Series hosts classical and jazz concerts in Madison, WI. Our uniquely personal concert setting allows audiences to get close to the music and experience the way live music was meant to be heard. Our concerts are limited to only 100 attendees, so every seat is a great seat.

Each season we work to bring in rising stars, popular favorites, and touring artists whose stature rarely gives them the opportunity to play in a venue so intimate. At each concert, the artist provides insights about their program and Tim Farley discusses the history and restoration of the piano being played. The concerts are followed by a reception with appetizers and a chance to meet the musician.

History

In 2013, Salon Piano Series formalized nonprofit status and became the organization you know today. However, the origins go back much further to when Tim and Renée Farley began to host concerts at Farley’s House of Pianos in the 1970s. If you were fortunate enough to attend one of those early concerts at the old Farley’s House of Pianos location in downtown Madison, you’ll remember the cozy downstairs concert space and the intimacy of the performances, as the artists responded to the exquisite instruments rebuilt in the nearby workshop.

When Farley’s House of Pianos moved to its present location on the west side of Madison in 1998, the concerts continued and became even more popular with the public. In 2013, Salon Piano Series was formed as a nonprofit to continue the legacy of salon concerts at Farley’s House of Pianos.

If you didn’t make it to one of those early concerts, you’ll be relieved to know that the series continues to combine a congenial setting, unrivalled pianos, and great performers.
