1) Connor Smith Rachmaninoff: Prelude in g minor op 23 #5
Connor Smith, a sixteen year-old Junior at Verona Area High School, has studied piano with Ms. Judy Ferreri for about ten years. Additionally, and most recently, he has also been learning toplay the Celtic lever harp and performs with the Celtic Harp Choir. Connor loves the romantic era and the new harmonies introduced to music theory. In the future, he hopes to keep music a part of his life as he plans to pursue a career in engineering.
2) Olivia Knight Khachaturian: Sonatina in C Major op 60#3 I. Allegro Giocoso
12 year old Olivia Knight is a 6th grader at Eagle School and has studied with Dr. Lina Lee for 6 years. A lover of all things animal, other hobbies include cello and music composition, English, horseback riding, swimming, and piloting a 2 seat aircraft. Olivia is excited for her many options of what she wants to be when she grows up, but she hopes it includes flying. Olivia’s favorite composer is Dan Thrasher because in addition to talent, he has a great sense of humor.
3) Levin Zhang Mendelssohn: Rondo Capriccioso op 14
Levin is a passionate young pianist and 7th grader at Glacier Creek Middle School. Studying under Dr. Lina Yoo Min Lee, he continues to grow, earning 1st place at the 2022-2024 WMTA State Competitions and winning multiple international and local awards. Beethoven is his favorite composer, inspiring his expressive and creative composition. Beyond music, he is good at math and handcraft. Bright, kind, and always eager to help others, Levin embraces challenges and strives for excellence in all he does.
4) Debosir Ghosh Ravel Prelude from Le Toumbeau de Couperin
Debosir is a 22 year old originally from Buffalo, NY. He currently works as a project manager in Verona and recently graduated from Duke with a B.S in Neuroscience. He has been playing piano since the age of five and has continued music throughout college under the study of Ieva Jokubaviciute and Derison Duarte. His favorite composers are Rachmaninoff and Beethoven and he loves to listen to and perform the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.3. In addition to piano practice and full-time work, Debosir also enjoys exploring the Madison area with friends and likes listening to other genres of music including jazz, hip hop, and R&B.
